Material Handler Lead – Grafton, WI

Help lead the way making an impact at Kapco when it comes to safely moving and handling a variety of materials. As a Material Handler Lead, you will work with innovation and integrity to keep our plants working at top levels of production to satisfy our customers.

Work Hours (shift): 2nd shift

Starting Salary: Depends on experience

Required Education: Forklift training and certification, basic math, reading and writing skills.

This job involves the movement of materials and scrap removal. Three to five years of material handling and leadership experience required. Also requires forklift training and certification, basic math, reading and writing skills. Physical requirements include the ability to bend, twist, stoop and reach, and lift materials up to 50 pounds. Experience in LEAN Manufacturing and continuous improvement. This is a non-exempt position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and working with a team handling in-plant materials
  • Pick up and deliver raw materials, work in process inventory, and package supplies, as needed, to and from the presses and shipping areas
  • Loading coils
  • Returning correctly identified materials to proper location in inventory
  • Supplying weld cells
  • Disposing of scrap
  • Performing necessary identification and inventory paperwork
  • Successfully completing forklift certification program
  • Practicing safe and alert material handling at all times
  • Performing pre-shift maintenance checks of designated forklift equipment and associated record keeping
  • Must be able to plan for movement of needed parts and material for production
  • Keeping all materials and products neat and organized
  • Assisting production operators with timely delivery of products and containers, as needed
  • Working between departments
  • Safety team member and leader
  • Keeping team engaged through communication and enthusiasm
  • Other duties as assigned
